The hosts

Two surgeons. One table.

Both hosts operate, both teach, and both stay at the station for the whole of the laboratory day. The course is closed at ten participants so that every question is answered where it is asked, with the tissue in front of you.

01 The premise

Every facelift is judged by the neck.

All About The Neck is a closed, ten seat cadaver course built around a single region. Day one is a scientific course at Dr. Mehmet Cömert's clinic in Istanbul. Day two is a hands-on cadaver workshop at Acıbadem CASE, with faculty demonstrations followed by supervised, sequential dissection at every station.

01 / Ten seats

No back row.

Ten surgeons, and that is the whole course. Small enough that every question is answered where it is asked, at the station, with the tissue in front of you.

02 / Two hosts

Both of them dissect.

Op. Dr. Mehmet Cömert and Op. Dr. Soner Karaali host together and operate together. You see the same anatomy handled by two pairs of hands and two surgical philosophies.

03 / Anatomy first

Follow the tissue.

The course follows the order the neck is actually opened in. Each plane is entered, named and argued over before the next one is touched. Technique comes after anatomy, never before it.

Who it is for

Practising plastic surgeons.

Board certified or board eligible in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. The room is built for surgeons who already operate on the face and neck.

What you should bring

Some facelift mileage.

You do not need to be a deep plane surgeon. You do need to have opened a neck before, so that the two days are spent on the difficult planes rather than on orientation.

What it is not

Not an anatomy primer.

This is not an introduction to head and neck anatomy, and it is not a lecture course with a demonstration at the end. Every participant dissects.

02 The dissection

Six modules. One sequence.

The workshop follows the order the neck is opened in: down from the surface to the submandibular region, then back out through platysma reconstruction and closure. Select a module to see what it covers.

Surface, access and the superficial plane

Day 02 · 09:00 to 10:15

Mandibular border, chin, hyoid and cervical landmarks are marked first, relating surface contour to the structures underneath. Entering the deep neck

Day 02 · 10:35 to 11:20

Identification of the subplatysmal plane and exposure of the deep fat, with its central and lateral boundaries. Selective reduction is performed under supervision, then the contour is reassessed with tissue preservation in mind.

03

Digastric, mylohyoid and hyoid

Day 02 · 11:20 to 12:00

04

The submandibular region

Day 02 · 12:00 to 12:45 and 13:30 to 14:15

  • Capsular plane
  • Partial reduction
05

Platysma adaptation and the lateral neck

Day 02 · 14:15 to 16:15

Platysmal mobilization and redraping, medial approximation and plication, and a comparison of selected repair techniques, adapting the muscle layer to the new contour. Then lateral platysmal exposure, release boundaries and suspension vectors, integrating the anterior repair with the lateral neck and lower face.

  • Redraping
  • Lateral release
  • Suspension vectors
06

Contour, closure and the safety review

Day 02 · 16:15 to 17:30

Central and lateral contour reassessed for residual bulges or depressions, skin redraping, tension distribution and closure planning. Then a faculty-led review of structures at risk, simulated responses to gland-bed bleeding and an expanding neck hematoma, and a specimen review in which each group presents its choices.

  • Skin redraping
  • Complication scenarios
  • Faculty debrief

Featured discussion questions

These recur throughout the scientific day rather than becoming additional lectures.

  • Does this patient need deep neck surgery, or a different solution?
  • Is the fullness predominantly fat, muscle, gland or skeletal configuration?
  • After deep contouring, how should the platysma be adapted rather than simply tightened?
  • When does further refinement become overcorrection?
